"This course changed my perspective of the art form of cinema itself. However, examining the cinema of 3rd world nations gave me a deeper, historical perspective of the nation's culture as well as its history." "If you are not a cinema lover before taking this course, you will be by the end of it."- Kelly Spence

"I love teaching this course because after a very few months, students are no longer looking at their world, or the wider world in the same way. Quite often I leave class downright delighted by the quality of discussions. Not only that. Each year I ask the students to find a way to bring these films to the wider Miami community in a project called “seeding.” And each year the kids mumble and grumble and end up doing far more than I asked of them or in some cases even imagined. I thank each member of the 2014-2015 class for making this year such a rich one."- Elizabeth Hanly
